Playing The Angel

Já ouviu o álbum novo do Depeche Mode? Se não ouviu tá perdendo. Playing The Angel é progressivo e vibrante do início ao fim. A Pain That I'm Used To abre o álbum e revela um som angustiante já nos primeiros segundos, com uma guitarra furiosa. Lembra um pouco o início de Starting Over, do The Crystal Method. Funciona. Destaque também pra Jhon The Revelator e The Sinner In Me, faixas claustrofóbicas e enérgicas, mostrando que rock e música eletrônica podem andar juntos. Suffer Well é forte, talvez uma das mais fortes do álbum no sentido de elevar a dor a algo existencial (elemento bem presente na obra do Depeche). A voz de Dave Gahan aqui esbanja poder:

"Where were you when I fell from grace
Frozen heart, an empty space" (...)

Mas Precious é minha eleita. Consegue ser emotiva sem deixar de ser dançante, e unindo esses dois elementos alcança a combinação perfeita. Nela o Depeche vai do sensível/melódico ao progressivo. Precious é escorregadia e embala fácil. A letra é de Martin Gore:
